Stones and Adventures Exhibition

 

First shown at The Dome Brighton, Founders room as part of the Older Peoples Festival Commissioned by Impact Initiatives in Paternership with Brighton & Hove City Council as part of celebrating The United Nations Older People's Day September 2016.

The pebble beach in Brighton is an iconic part of our city, which led me to think a new take on ‘message in a bottle’ could be ‘message on a pebble’. I thought there was something inspiring about writing a dream or an adventure on a pebble, and leaving on the beach to be found by someone else. Maybe these messages will encourage others to embark on their own adventures. I asked the older people who took part in the various projects to write down adventures past or future. Some of the statements were unbelievably adventurous, such as feeding tigers, swimming with crocodiles or doing a bungee jump. Some were ambitious, heartfelt or downright cheeky!

One of my favorite ones was from an older lady whose ambition was to eat a Desperate Dan cow pie! And one of the most inspiring was walk the south downs way read more about Janet’s story in the #humansofbrightoncity.
